Bed Update

The bed is finally finished and installed, just in time for the clients to move in. Of course there are things that I am not 100% happy with, but overall I'm pretty proud of it. I think that most of the problems are due to being rusty, and not thinking through the entire execution the way I would if I were doing this more regularly. Also not having a proper work space was a problem.

All the same, I wish I had this piece in my room.

It looks great, Justin! Well done.

Two questions.

I see you alternated your overlap on the corners with the cladding, except for the two pieces nearest the floor. Was there a reason for that?

Did you think about recessed lighting directed upward out of the top?

Damn you Adam, damn you for noticing so quickly. I only noticed some time around 10pm, the night before they were scheduled to move in. Of course I was out of the proper size material, and would have gone home to cut more. I could cut more that late at night without pissing off the roommates, and if I didn't get a coat of finish on I wouldn't be able to buff it out the next day before the movers started coming in.

It's one of those things that I'm not so happy about.

We talked about doing uplighting, but decided against it. If it were farther from the ceiling I might have done it, but I think it would have created a hot spot.

Meh.

C'est la vie.

No one else notices these things. It still looks great.

Now I'm disappointed...I thought this bed was for YOU! But it's damn pretty nonetheless. :-)
