Mobile blog test

2:30 in the AM, sitting in the airport. We recently fled a cranky baby being ignored by it's mother. Deciding that there's no reason to sleep between now and 4, my friend Katie went for coffee while I watch the bags. Check in desks open at 4, and then we should know more.

Update 2

The snow level is at 8.5" at my house, and Horizon/Alaska canceled all of their flights at some point today.

We will see what tomorrow brings.

Snow update

The snow had started slushing up, but last night it started up again. We got about 4 inches since 5pm last night.

I downloaded a new camera app for the iphone. It simulates various lenses/styles.

Update: I just found out my friend wasn't able to make his flight out of Seattle this morning. They canceled the flight and scheduled him to leave tomorrow. I'm starting to get a bit nervous. I may need to alter my travel plans, possibly staying at a hotel near the airport to avoid the early morning roads and/or catching a different flight. They canceled this mornings flight to Fresno, so I'm guessing it may be hard to get out. Usually I'm re-routed to Portland, but last I heard they were canceling a ton of flights because they could keep up with de-icing the planes.

Greetings from Chicago?

I tried convincing Lisa she should move to Seattle based on climate, but it looks like we are matching their winter weather. Of course it's worse in Seattle, because we are not prepared.

It's been pretty nice staying home the last couple days. I haven't accomplished much, so I'll have to take most of it as vacation time. I did manage to read the Lord of the Rings for the first time. I didn't realize how much they changed/left out in the movies.

I haven't been to work since Wednesday, and if the weather report is correct I won't be going in until the new year. I did walk up to the house we are working to take some pictures in the brief bit of sunshine we had on Friday.

This is the house yesterday, note the snow. We extended the second floor and part of the first to add a master suite and a functional kitchen. I particularly like the big-ass sliding door.

This is me trying to be artistic.

I love the winterrrrrr weatherrrrr

According to the talking heads on the news, we are in the middle of the first real storm of the season. Although it hasn't really snowed in a couple days, the temperatures haven't risen above freezing, so some of the side roads are still sheets of ice. For that reason I've been going in late every day this week, and leaving early.

I have to say it is coming at just the right time. I am ready for the holidays. Being busy and behind schedule is stressful in it's own way, but this business of not having any billable work is depressing. I need holiday cheer, but barring that I want to stay home wrapped up in blankets with a cup of tea and a good book.

Rumor is the snow will fly again tonight, turning to snow and ice sometime tomorrow. I think I'll contrive to work from home the next couple of days.

I'm through with love...I mean poker

I'm taking this opportunity to announce my retirement from the friendly poker game. I no longer have the money to lose, and I expect to have much less in the near future. You shouldn't play unless you can afford to loose, and given my record at loosing...

Tonight it was a king high flush that out drew my straight.

Someday

Here's the kind of stuff I would like to do someday...

I don't particularly like the furniture in either, but the ceiling and wall are amazing.
